Zazenkai, translated as ‘a gathering for seated Zen meditation,’ is a flexible, accessible one-day retreat held each month from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering sustained time for zazen and shared practice at the Temple.

The modular schedule is designed to maximize time in the zendo while welcoming and encouraging accommodations that support each person’s participation individually. Those already trained in liturgy positions are invited to contribute their skills.

While sesshin offers a more intensive, full Zen retreat experience, Zazenkai provides an approachable opportunity to deepen practice in a structured setting.

GHSangha offers Zazenkai every month except December. Aspects of the schedule include Zazen and Kinhin, Dokusan, Liturgy, and Oryoki lunch.
